Subject: countdown to uni
Security: Public

uni starts on the 26th for me. i'm not done with those papers for Critical Thinking yet, but I need to be. I'm dropping off my app for additional Student Loan money- on the one hand I hate to take on that debt, but on the other I've already paid that much in taxes- more!- so I don't see why I shouldn't have the use of it to finish school.

Bit of a cold today- that's annoying but that's more likely still getting into a new routine of cases and sleep and errands. Plan is to drop of this paper at uni, hit the neighborhood for breakfast, and then hit the sack after a quick bath.

If there's a miracle, I'll wake both refreshed enough and in time to go up to work and pick up my check- no auto deposit today, something wrong at the check payer's tech site apparently- but if not, well, they'll mail it, and I just won't spend any money this weekend. Filled the tank last night, went to the market the day before, so.

So that's the news from here, Friday Digest version. Take care y'all.

sleep is so underrated.

YAY! for school, I'm so happy (not right word, you know what I mean) that you are doing this.

Cold is related to all the weather some people you're hooked to are getting.

Wish you were here. Trip to store and farmers markets after work, then a huge pot of vegetable soup and homemade bread for dinner.

both markets are open as of Wed. Will hit the one here in town first then the one out in the country next. the grow it there, no shipping in, still warm from the fields.

that's what i figured, yeah.

wow, really? that's so cool.
we have one here thurs evening, but the last two weeks i've been asleep during it. there're farmer's markets sat and sun too, in other towns, but they don't open until too late for me- by ten am i should be dead sound asleep, not driving 15 miles to get fresh veg. *sigh*

otoh, i have permission now to plant up all the 'empty' corners of the yard here with herbs, bean/pea/etc. vines, whatever, and to try a winter garden in the sunny spots, even if it's in big containers. so. i'm happy with that for now.

OH, and while i was over at uni dropping off the FA form this morning, i noticed that the 'incidental' landscaping- a lovely peach tree, two pomegranates, a small apple orchard, and the two big figs, and the pineapple guavas, and the still-fruiting blackberries, are all going strong. so there IS that. no-one else harvests- so i do.

Ours run 7 days a week during growing season. Course there are little farmers ones here and there, but pretty hit and miss. Big ones open at 7am -6pm.

Wish I could garden here, just can't, no real space

there's no space here, either- my tiny patch of volunteer potatoes (4 plants, who knows if, in this clay-ey soil, i'll get any potatoes) and sugar snap pea vines is not even a yard by a yard; i'll have about 4 feet linear to plant winter peas; and i can put, oh, proably 5 5-gal planting buckets filled with dirt and finished compost over in the sunny corner during the winter. but then the whole back yard is only about 12x30, and it's already got trees, lawn, patio, roses, concrete, mint, and bob's tomatoes growing in it. so i'm doing pretty well to snatch the tiny bits i have, lol.

anyway. off to bed now, and praying for enough sleep to be able to go pick up check instead of waiting for it to be mailed.

ttyl. xo
